    Concealed carry ar-15?

Has anyone seen or played with anything like this? http://dry-fire.com/the-tac2-ar15-discreet-carry-kit I travel a lot for a living and was wondering.....would this be a solid investment for SHTF or an accident waiting to happen. It looks like you add the "special" barrel nut on your rifle and low-pro gas block and you're good to go. Seems pretty simple...idk? Any feedback is appreciated.

For SHTF I want something well-proven. Maybe the takedown ARs are great, but like you I do not know. Instead of a takedown AR, I would probably be more interested in one of these:

You can drop one into a large athletic duffel bag, walk into one of the best casinos in Las Vegas, check in and not raise anyone's eyebrows.

Also, people tend to think valuable stuff is in a brief case, whereas they think dirty socks are in an athletic duffel bag.

And before I get burned at the stake for being a heretic, I have found a sidefolder AK is a few inches shorter than a collapsed non-SBR AR-15, making the AK fit into a duffel a little better.

Take the upper off the lower (if need be), put in bag. Throw magazines in bag. Go.

When I read 'concealed carry' I pictured you trying to carry one under a duster or something.

The duffle bag is a good idea. I carry mine around in a soft-shell guitar case. There's a thread on here somewhere that a guy did up about how to convert a hard-shell guitar case into a gun case. I find that unecessary however, just get a soft-shell guitar case and throw the freaking rifle in it. I think they call them gig bags in the music world. You could definately find one on musiciansfriend.com. I find it raises less eyebrows and it works for what I need it for.

I also have one of these that I use on occasion.

I've never really understood what made it discreet. I like it though.

The guitar gig bag is a great idea! I commute across the Puget Sound via the Washington State Ferry System, often as a walk-on passenger (I live close to the ferry dock and have a vehicle parked on the other side). Rifle cases make folks a bit uneasy and so I usually drive across if I'm bringing a rifle. I also play guitar and have hard cases for all of my electrics / basses - I don't currently own a gig bag. I will as of next week however.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

No for that you get a smith and wesson 500 mag and carry it in any case you want with plenty of ammo that way if SHTR nobody messes with you

I am not certain what you are looking for, something to carry around with you during the day, or something to transport your AR in while you travel.

Below is a link to a bag by Tac-Force that has a concealed compartment for carrying a collapsible stock AR. Other manufacturers have similar designs.

I like the thinking outside the box.. seems like a old school Marlin pappose. however id rather just run my standard M4 Broke down in a castle rock bag or something like my side folder AK in a tennis racquet bag

Guitar gig bags work great, so do some tennis racket bags I've heard...
