Honestly my main recommendation would just be to make your first SBR a standard AR lower regardless of the caliber you choose to get it in. This will just give you the most options down the road for your tax stamp.

That being said, of the options on your list I would personally go with a 10.5" 5.56 with an adjustable gas block or an 11.5" one if you don't want an adjustable gas block.

300 Blk. Otherwise I agree with Plinker - just pick up a quality lower and do a form 1 on it. Now you can do 300 Blk, 556, and 9mm in any config you desire in any upper.

SBR a 10.5" or 11.5" 5.56mm AR. If you're already into 7.62x39 and just got into 5.56, I would not add yet another caliber in 300 BO unless you're planning on reloading.

If you want to go pistol caliber, I would recommend a MKE mp5-n, MKE mp5k-n, or B&T APC9.

Since you're considering dedicated lowers, versatility seems a non issue, so... I'd say if you want 7.62x39, go with an ak sbr.

I don't know ky hunting laws, but make sure you're within regs before going nfa for that purpose.

Starting from scratch I'd go 300blk. Actually, ime, it costs more to try to fit around stuff, so I'd still suggest a 300blk in 8-9", or 555 11.5".

Subs and pistol ammo give up a lot in terminal ballistics. If I wanted to run subs only, I'd go 9mm, as I havnt seen a lot of 300blk good subs out yet. Even if they come out, it's going to be a really good pistol caliber with better reach when you get down to it.

I have some 115s for the pistol, but a good amount of 147 fmj and hp. Plan for the 9 was always subs. We will probably never see .300 subs near the price of 9mm subs. Just don't know if I should stay 4.5" or go 7 or 9".

Unsuppressed range toy? I would just shoot a 16" gun. Save $200. Save cheekweld.

This, especially if you even remotely plan to suppress it in the future.

Oh, I must have missed it. I was assuming a supressor was going on.
If I did 9mm, it would be 4-5" bbl. No silencer changes things. I'd go sbr 762 ak or 223 11.5"ar, especially being a potential hunting gun.

If I were to do a SBR from a pistol today, Id form 1 the nickel plated PAP pistol from atlantic firearms and get a reputable builder to convert it to a triangle side folder, which I would also have nickel plated to match the rest of the gun. Slap an afghan braided goat hair sling on it and youre ready for action.
