FWIW, Lancer L7AWM's have noticably heavier springs when compared to a PMAG 308... at least all mine do. Even after trimming a coil. ( Just as an experiment )

Lancer did tell me that the heavier spring was for use with full auto. Not sure what in the USA military uses a large frame AR mag that is also full auto, so that claim never did make much sense to me.
I'll also note that SIG apparently has plans to try to transition to steel mags for the M5, though the Army hasn't approved that yet: https://soldiersystems.net/2022/07/2...on-capability/
