Ok. So my plan was to build my wife a carbine that is lightweight and she can easily use when needed. After having some time to think about it here it is. I am going to try and detail the cost as well. This is rather important because it once again shows the crowd that you can build a good solid AR for a decent price. Many small items were already on hand such as castle nut, lower receiver ext., buttstock, pistol grip, etc...
Rear BUIS is still pending as I have yet to decide which model to get her at this point.
1. Lower- Was a special order group buy from another website where I am a member. We paid 99.00 a piece and they are made by Mega Machine. The lower parts kit is a Stag Arms kit. 65.00.
2. Barrel- Is a BCM 16" 1/7. Cost was approx. 209.00. I also needed a barrel nut and gas tube. 21.95. Magpul MOE handguard 27.00.
3. Upper receiver- BCM M4 upper. Cost approx. 94.00
5. BCG- Carrier is from Bravo Company and the bolt is an LMT. I have several bolts on hand as spares, so all I needed was the carrier. Cost 69.00
6. Lower receiver extension- was already on hand as was the Vltor Mod stock, buffer spring and buffer. Approx. cost- 125.00
Attachment 5211
The above is right around 725.00. Again some parts were on hand already, but I also spread the cost over time and only purchased what I need to complete the job. I estimate that for about 825.00-850.00 you can build a good solid shooter and you don't have to settle for crap.
