HELP me find my boy a rifle for Christmas!

I've decided that its high time to get my son a rifle for Christmas. The problem is that it seems they are almost non-existent! The one I want is a Marlin XT-22YSR.

If you find one locally, see one in a shop, have one, whatever, could you please let me know?! I'll ship it up here to Alaska from wherever to get my paws on one (unless they are in the stratosphere on price). Secure one for me and I'll mail you a P-Mag, a Kryptek Outdoor ball cap, and maybe even a few other goodies...

I cant necessarily help you with this particular gun, but if you want a youth, bolt, 22lr, the CZ 452 Scout looks to be a decent option as well. And the CZ .22lr's are VERY well regarded as far as bolt .22lr go.

Ruger is also making the American Compact in 22lr which is also a bolt and has change-able stock pieces that make it short or longer as the kid grows. Takes 10/22 maqs also.

Just throwing other possible options out there for youth sized bolt 22lr.

I just looked at a Ruger American in 22lr. Pretty slick rifle for 269 bucks and it comes with an adjustable stock and takes 10-22 mags. Has the Ruger copy of the Accu-trigger as well.

When they make one in 17HMR...I will be buying one.

Wow, did I read the specs right? It shoots shorts, long and long rifle. Seems like I don't see that capability much in modern rifles, they've all gone mainly to long rifle.

Your son will love the rifle, whatever you give him. He'll hang onto it forever because it'll mean that much. Good luck getting a hold of it. If the contact from Grand doesn't work out I'll have a look at the dealer when I go on Friday.

Thanks. I'll be checking out that Ruger. The only thing I didn't like with the CZ, is that the safety is reversed from a 'regular' style safety (forward to fire being regular), right?

How old is your son? How tall is he?
In today's world one of the best things you can do for your child; Get them in Scouting, stay with them in the program, and encourage them to stay in.
