There are NO good rail mounted front sights.

My only acceptable Rail mounted front sight is going to be rotated out after a garage floor whack destroyed this. I have these on a lot of guns.

I'd kill for a forged steel version of this. (Edit to remove initial emotionally based comment)

Aaaaaaaand that is why the standard, fixed, FSB is king.

Sorry to see that, brocephus. I have always absolutely required that every AR I have owned is rocking a fixed FSB.

What about a Kac Micro or Magpul MBUS Pro? I know they are not fixed.

Also, maybe this is why DD chose the V1 for their explosion and dropping out of helicopters =)
However it looks like it actually did its job by protecting the actual post. Did you check to see if it was still zeroed before you took it off???

Aren't the polymer Magpul BUS still considered some of the best (if not THE best) with regards to being dropped? I realize it's not a fixed sight, but.....

    Rub some dirt on it!

I am surprised by this, I was hoping they could take the abuse and hold up. Damn.

Front sights either need to flex, be bombproof steel, fold under stress, or be some combination of those characteristics. After dropping a metric ton of rifles in sight destructive testing, I haven't seen anything else survive adequately.
