Kiku Matsuda - Shu-Fu Merry Christmas to me

My wife bought me this outstanding knife for Christmas. I have been wanting Kiku Matsuda knife for some time. Every time I go into my local knife shop, I spend some time checking out their collection of Kiku blades. I have to say it is a beautiful knife, and it feels great in my hand. The Hamaguri-ba, convex grind shows the layers of steel really well. Not your typical Damascus pattern. I guess this is a Japanese masters interpretation of Damascus. There are some remaining forging marks on the bade that add a lot of character.

I tried to show the blade profile, and grind as best I could in these pictures.

    Maker: Kiku Matsuda
    Blade length: 5.00 in.
    Total length: 9.75 in.
    Blade width: 1.30 in.
    Blade thickness: 0.14 in.
    Weight: 6.60 oz.
Steel: Super Gold 2 Powdered Damascus
Blade Grind: Hamaguri-ba (convex) grind with a raised swedge
    Handle: Carved green canvas Micarta
Sheath: Kydex sheath with Tek-Lok belt clip

    Very well done, sir.

You need to get that lady something nice, by the way. That's a very thoughtful gift.
