    The Series "Black Summer"

I binged watched season one last night and today and thought that it was fantastic. A Netflix series on a zombie plague that is non-stop action. Season 2 is suppose to premiere on 6/17. The trailer I include does not do season one justice. If you love zombie movies/series then you will like Black Summer.

Really thought this thread was going to be about something entirely different.

Walking Dead pretty much destroyed the genre for me.

I have a few pre Walking Dead films I can watch and almost no post Walking Dead films I can watch.

Train to Busan (2016) is one of the few exceptions.

Yeah, I was thinking it must be a docudrama about last year, just in time to spawn the IRL sequel.

Not disparaging zombie fans but I just can't get into em. I don't generally care for horror films and I despise slasher movies, too. To each their own.

In the Z Nation series they mention "black summer" several times. Is this a Z Nation spinoff?

No, totally separate and different. Not goofy, but serious and very fast paced.

According to Wikipedia, it's not so much of a spin-off as it is a prequel to set up the premise for Z Nation, albeit fairly loosely. But they are both from the same production company and have the same writers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Summer_(TV_series)

Red*Lion is spot on though, in that the show is more serious and not campy like Z Nation.

That being said, I started watching it yesterday, and I've never thought there could be a bigger group of people with no common sense or survival instincts. Man, do they make some obscenely stupid decisions.

Correct. I watched Black Summer a couple years ago when it first hit Netflix and really liked it, but I'd never heard of Z Nation. After I finished BS, I started watching ZN and found it a little too campy for me. I think I made it part way into the second season and quit.

Yeah but remember in the past year alone we've had idiots drinking aquarium chemicals to prevent the WuFlu, fully vaccinated people still wearing masks, and morons filling plastic sacks with gasoline. I think Black Summer is a pretty good representation of what a good portion of the general population would do in a true SHTF situation.
