Just the mere mention of this by a politician is unreal...and the nightmare we all feared.

Followed the link. Initially thought no big deal, just changing some wordage. Then I read 'reenact.'
Were these laws, pertaining to striking government employees, taken off the books at one point?
Then I saw 'Patron - Carter.' So I googled Virginia Legislator Carter. My goodness, bless his heart: He was endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), of which he is a member.
I thought Socialists were all about strikes?
Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President... - Theodore Roosevelt, Lincoln and Free Speech, Metropolitan Magazine, Volume 47, Number 6, May 1918.
Every Communist must grasp the truth. Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party Mao Zedong, 6 November, 1938 - speech to the Communist Patry of China's sixth Central Committee

"Since taking office, Carter has been an outspoken advocate for workers' rights.", ......but.....
Call out the NG to stomp on civil liberties? That is a statist’s wet dream. As a former Illinois guardsman I can’t speak for the National Guard in VIrginia, but I don’t know anyone in my AOR that would play ball if the dems here tried to pull the same nonsense. Of course the POTUS could just federalize the NG and tell them to stand down. So not a realistic scenario at the end of the day.
If they did manage to find some Vindman type to lead a NG unit to confiscate guns, all a sheriff would have to do is deputize the gun owners in his county. The NG taking on local LEOs? That would not turnout well for the dems. A posse is where is it’s at.

I don’t think they realize that shoving armed soldiers in the faces of Joe Middleclass will not end well.
Did they stop to consider that the guardsmen have to live in that state? That they have families? That once you ring that bell it cannot be unrung.
Obviously people don’t want these laws. It would be less trouble to say “Well these people don’t want these laws. Let’s take a step back”.
I mean they can make these threats but this isn’t invading a foreign country nor a natural disaster. One day people are living their normal lives and the next day you are sending soldiers to their homes where they sleep over their personal property.
That’s not going to sit well with most people.

Allegedly, Coonman The Blackface is looking into cutting phone, internet and power in areas preceding any confiscation/operations. Holy shit, if true!

I wonder how many really understand that? There is no 19th Century "chivalry" left anymore. We're WAY past that. Hell, even in modern international conflicts no one "surrenders" anymore, they just go underground; they may be outnumbered and defeated militarily, but they don't go away. No more stacking of arms and returning quietly to your farm with an "Oh well, I guess that's just the way it has to be now boys, we gave it a good try". No, in the 21st Century it will brood and fester, waiting for the opportunity to royally f**k over someone who done ya wrong (or who most vocally advocated it ), a chance when their back is turned to stick the dagger in deep and disappear, or even go after what is most important to them.
I certainly hope the seemingly insane rush towards confrontation is reigned in by cooler heads.
