For the price, I’ve been very happy with my Sig Kilo2000 as well. I’ve also got quite a bit of time behind a Leica and was never overly impressed with it.

Yeah I haven't seen anything on Vortex like that, and based on everybody's opinions in this thread, it looks like I'll be going with a Sig K2000 or 2200. Part of the learning experience for me has also been about the distance itself, and really 2500 meters was a nice round number in my head to start with, with no real basis in application. It's obvious to me now that if I'm in a position to reach out that far, I'll know a whole lot more about things, and I have no need for that kind of power at the moment.
Thanks for all the input, this thread has been very helpful.
What about the new Nikon's with the anti-vibration tech that helps you hold it study wwhile lasing longer ranges?
For years I had a Leica 1600. I lost it. I replaced it with the Sig 2200. About a month after getting it I got out my favorite hunting coat.....something heavy in the pocket....Leica 1600....So, I took both out to the field for a couple of weeks and honestly, they returned the exact same readings across a wide spectrum of targets and light conditions. Sold my Leica on Ebay. To me, electronics are a consumable item, you can't realistically expect them to last forever so the newer unit was better to me even if identical in ability.
The truth can only offend those who live a lie.
Some popular brands known for producing quality rangefinders for shooting sports include Vortex Optics, Leupold, Nikon, Bushnell, Sig Sauer, and Leica. Models like the Vortex Ranger, Leupold RX-1600i, Nikon Monarch, Bushnell Prime, Sig Sauer Kilo, and Leica Rangemaster are worth considering within your budget range.
I bought a Sig Kilo 2000 that was made just of Cabelas to sell. Super good price around $200-. I tested it ranging out to 900 yards easily looking at cow sized mounds of dirt in a field across the freeway. Only had 6x magnification but that actually worked just fine. You won't find it on the Sig website as it is a made for Cabelas item.
When shopping for a rangefinder for your purposes, there are several factors to consider to ensure you get the most suitable option:
1-Maximum Range
2-Accuracy
3-Ease of Use
4-Durability
5-Additional Features:
Consider any extra features that may enhance your shooting experience, such as angle compensation, scan mode, or target priority modes. While not essential, these features can be beneficial depending on your specific needs.

Bushnell, Leupold, Nikon, Sig Sauer, and Leica. Prices can vary widely depending on the brand, model, and features, but you can find reliable rangefinders in the $200 to $500 (https://wildhuntinggear.com/best-rangefinder-under-200/ ) range that offer excellent performance for recreational shooting and hunting purposes.
This rangefinder is definitely not for everyone, but if you want IMHO the best lightweight hand held ballistic rangefinder that can do all kinds of things and works in extreme cold weather, then as they say buy once and cry once and get the Revic BR4 rangefinder. Mine has been outstanding in every way.

$1285.00 worth of Revic rangefinder. My budget is not big enough and never will be. I don't need a 4,000 yd range finder when 2000 yds will do nicely.
Try one of these.....https://mavenbuilt.com/products/crf-1-6x22-5-2400-yd?avad=194130_c377ff71d&utm_source=avantlink_www.pewpewtactical.com&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=bb_affiliate&utm_content=Easy+Link&utm_term=194130_www.pewpewtactical.com

lol, yeah...This is a 6 year old thread. I think OP probably has it figured out by now...
Shit, if you're gonna "cry once" might as well make it count.
