What Happened to the American dream? It came true. You're looking at it.
I am no scar fan but I also am not a scar hater....so with that said I personally cannot see how the SCAR 17S could compete really at all with the SS precision barreled MWS that has that damn near bolt gun quality in the massive barrel extensions they incorporate as well as the amt. of chassis that captures that extension.
If the contract had called for an overall general purpose 7.62 semi auto rifle instead of a precision based or sharpshooter role as they call it I guess than I can see the SCAR being competitive but most def. not as a tack driver imho.

Yeah, one of the drawbacks to piston operations is the barrel isn't free floating, so it cuts down on accuracy. The LMT 308 is free floating and DI.

Not sure on the accuracy department however the SCAR-H is a whole lot lighter than the MWS.
And before anyone calls me a SCAR koolaid drinker; I own more MRPs than SCARs.
Cheers
The piston in the scar is in no way connected to the bolt carrier group of the scar. The piston only moves about an inch and then the rest of the travel of the bolt group is through the momentum gain from this tiny movement of the piston. In my opinion the scar is equally as free floated as the MWS.
