Maybe I’m not completely understanding the Jan1 no tax thing, but seems like it will be easier to sell unneeded NFA items without the $200 tax for the buyer.
I’ve gone a bit hog wild and blame this place for the sheer number of SBR’s I’ve acquired over time, only to be relegated to the back of the safe for the newest SBR (i.e. B&T goodies). Wondering if it’ll be easier to sell/consign with my local dealer since no $ are attached to the stamps anymore for the new year?
The $200 tax is gone, but the paperwork/registration is still in play at the moment with the Trump/Bondi justice department arguing in court to maintain the papetwork/registration a week or so before creating the office they allege will defend rights.
The elimination of the $200 tax should increase sales(new and second hand) because the tax applied to a can or SBR is still a large percentage of the actual value of the item when new and that just gets worse as the item gets used more.
While $200 is not what it was in 1934(it was equal to around $4k with current devalution of the dollar and a Thompson or Monitor was about $200 in 1934) the intent of making an item prohibitively expensive remains.
