At this point I am wondering if I have too much shit added into this mix?
I reduced the amount of gas making it into the system via the AGB and the only way to remove the bulk of the blowback ALSO causes the rifle not to operate properly (won’t cycle).

You could try an AR gas vent, which is a forward assist with a large vent hole milled in the side for gas to escape. Available from several vendors. No personal experience, but it seems like a reasonable solution.
Is there a reason you’re using the Gemtech SBC when you have an adjustable gas block? You could try a different enhanced carrier that bleeds off gas more efficiently ( i.e. LMT, Lantac).
Another idea is to try the Vltor A5 with a heavier buffer, ideally with an LMT E-carrier. Better dwell time should cut down on the gas coming back into the upper from the chamber. Reduced cyclic rate should improve the reliability of the firearm overall.
If I were to guess, I would say yes. If DD doesn’t replace the barrel like they have allegedly for others, then I would contact Clint at Black River Tactical and get one of his insertable ports.
The fact of matter is, with the AR-15, you can fix 90% of the issues by drilling the right sized hole.
I also love how an entire side market of the industry is entirely devoted to fixing said wrong sized hole problem. Its genius really, Im gonna f*** up drilling this hole so I can invent adjustable gas blocks, special bolt carriers, threaded inserts, gas vents, special charging handles, RED springs to mitigate the issue.
While I mostly agree, the OP is shooting a 10.5 with a gassy can. There may not be a single “right sized hole” that can cover all bases perfectly. What size port would you choose if you were selling a 10.5” barrel that users might try to use with Wolf unsuppressed or 855a1 suppressed?
