SNAP Benefits run out Nov 1st and the Usual Suspects are losing their minds

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7BSGwnn_Kk

Thats actually a pretty good, informative video. I was surprised to find out that SNAP Recipients actually use 50% more money for their groceries than Non SNAP users do.
And if we don’t get it for them they will just steal the groceries !
Hahahaha!

Maybe they need to learn to buy longer shelf life goods and shop at Grocery Outlet rather than buying lobster to feed their dogs.

I couldn’t believe how much money some of these folks were recieving.
Essentially you could be buying a Qtr Beef every other month. Rice, flour, sugar potatoes and you’re eating better than most people.
Instead the money goes to soda’s, chips and stuff you cook in the microwave.

In the end you are buying the Meds to keep them alive and various surgeries after a lifetime of eating crap.

Was recently talking with another vet. His thought was that he wishes he could send the “poor” and their advocates to the Middle East or Africa for a week. See how the poor live over there. Or see the street kids who literally live hand to mouth and face the very real possibility of starving and dying THIS WEEK.

Anyone who can complain about poverty in America after seeing that can just F the hell off.

Local news interviewed some shit for brains broad from the food bank who said (when the loser benefits stop) for many, this will be their first time relying on aid. Really, dumb slut?

I remember when you used Food Stamps, it was an actual book of Stamp like Funny Money. The Cashier went through your groceries and you paid with the Stamp Like Coupons by pulling them out the book. I can’t remember but you might have had to sign the back or not.
Anyway this being the 1960-70’s everyone bought their cigarettes with cash afterward after their groceries.

Even then there was a scam going on, Now if you were on speaking terms with people who had bad habits you could get them to pay for their illicit drug of choice with Food Stamps. Then you usually went to a little Mom and Pop Convienance stores where they would ring up your cigarettes as grocery items at a healthy profit.

The bigger scam was doing the above in Indiana but doing it on a large scale and then running those smokes to Illinois and selling them at like two bucks profit a carton, because of the State Tax.
In Iliinois you turned that profit over, turned it in to Booze and took it back to Indiana and sold it at a profit because of the State Tax.
You could get this scam going and make some money off of it, but you had to stay small.

The thing is, this has always been a scam, forever. Little folks used to profit off of it and before long they eliminated the little Guy’s scams and set up the biggest scam of all, selling Corporate junk food to poor People and in massive amounts.
All that grift money little Gangsters used to make now goes to bigger Gangsters on Wall Street.

It’s easy to tell who is on SNAP in the grocery store. They usually have two buggies full of Doritos, Cokes, potato chips and frozen dinners. Then when they get to the checkout counter they pay for the beer and cigarettes with cash.

I’m pretty sure we have all started out at low income levels in our lives. Some more than others. I’ve lived lean. Hamburger, potatoes, basic vegetables, rice, beans, pasta, etc. All of that is reasonably affordable. You can eat cheap if you are willing to put in a little effort and labor.

It is definitely the processed, prepared, foods that add up. That and higher end items like steaks and such. I don’t expect the poor to eat gruel, but if you are on the dole you need to be responsible. Heck, even flour, sugar, and other baking stuff is relatively inexpensive. We ate a lot of sheet cake and such when I was a kid. Cheap dessert but we thought it was great. Low cost doesn’t have to mean eating miserable.

Start with skipping the fancy-ass Le Sueur peas with the triple-store-brand pricetag. Discount grocery stores go a long way, and so does a well stocked spice rack and a willingness to put in a little elbow grease.

THAT’s the real problem. An entire genre of cookbooks using few ingredients and limited time–Michael Symon has some very good ones–and nobody can be arsed to invest even 20-30 minutes in preparing a meal, never mind that if you make a big enough batch you can just microwave the leftovers later.

However you feel about the programs or the people on them. There are 41 million Americans who may be looking at the prospect of going hungry. Hungry people are dangerous people. Plan accordingly.

We usually keep a pretty good pantry but we’ll be making sure to have enough on hand that we don’t have to hit a grocery store for the first couple of weeks in NOV.

Hate to say it, but it’s time to make being poor more painful.

Clearly our current methods are not providing the proper motivation.

I would propose these changes after 6 months of being on welfare, food stamps, housing assistance:

1.) If you’re dumb enough to have more than one kiddo while on the government dole you get sterilized. Mandatory. No exceptions. Women and men. Sorry (not sorry) Tyrone your dick is getting cut off. I don’t mean chemical sterilization but surgical removal of genitals.

Contraceptives will be provided, you better use them.

2.) If you’re on the tax payer dime for food, housing, and welfare you’re required to work 80 hours per week for the tax payer. Picking up trash, filling pot holes, painting rocks, shoveling shit at the zoo, whatever the local government boss man can think of where you’re required to report for your 16 hour shift 5 days a week.

No sick days, no weekends off, no disability claims. Days off will be Monday and Tuesday. Suggest hunting for a real job on those days off.

If you miss a day you get no check, housing, or food that week. The boss man will literally just lock you out of your govt’ housing. Sleep on the street.

Fair warning government boss men will be recruited primarily from US Army and USMC E-8’s and E-9’s since they love making their underlings do stupid shit all day. Expect to wear at least 1 if not 2 to 3 day glow green belts while on shift, that way the public can identify and mock you.

3.) If you’re caught committing any felonies while on the government dole, the only available punishment upon conviction is death by hanging.

4.) You will be drug tested. If you’re caught with any illegal drugs in your system please refer to #3 for punishment. Being under the influence of alcohol will result in lashing with a cat-o’-nine tails. Testing will be conducted at random at least 8 times per month.

5.) Your available rations on government food assistance will be strictly limited to beans, rice, condensed milk, turnips, yams, and Lima beans. If you prove to be productive cheese and peanut butter will be rationed. Meat is no longer on your menu.

I think this would solve the problem in pretty short order.

Copper jacketed lead is not very nutritious.

Food stamps should be limited to the staples- rice, beans, bread, eggs, milk and cheese. There was a time when people were ashamed of being on food stamps but now they brag about it on social media. They think it is a right. My father grew up very poor- feeding a family of eight was very difficult and meals usually consisted of rice, pasta and ground beef. My dad said there were government welfare lines you could get in to get cheese and staples but he said there was no way in hell his father or mother would degrade themselves by doing that. My father joined the Marines at 17 to get away from the drugs and poverty.

Bread, fresh milk, and fresh eggs are a luxury.

Powdered eggs, powdered milk (or condensed), and no bread because fuckem’ that’s why.

You know at this point I don’t think it would take hold but;
There was a point in sending Boys to Shop Class and Girls to Home Economics.
Boys could keep a car running to get to work and Girls could produce a meal from scratch at home and the Economics part of home Economics meant it could be done at minimal expense.
Now if you asked a kid to produce something as simple as Spaghetti at home from scratch they would not be able to do it.
Thats why there is nobody cooking basic meals from scratch, they don’t know how.

The threats have already been made, the Democrats seem imovable on the issue and they ( The Democrat controlled Cities) will take the brunt of the damage.
My Larder is well stocked and I live in a “Safe Zone”, so at worst I will make multiple trips for popping corn. I really can’t wait.

Edit to Add;
Why are most of the People screaming about this Obese?

When we started out my wife could do wonders with basic ingredients. We didn’t have much, but we were never hungry. That seems to be a dying skill.

When I was a kid, My mother was a single mom of 2 for a few years. We were on food stamps. Our “scam” to get decent food was this. Use a dollar from the stamp booklet, use it on a piece of bazooka joe gum. Get 94 cents back, go to another store and do the same thing. Then take the $1.88 and get a warm slice of pizza. It worked for us. Granted we were on it for a few years, but my mother did not make a career out of it like most do.

Charity is best delivered by family, freinds, church and local community. Charity from Washington cannot be effectively monitored which results in abuse and more harm done than good. Other than disaster related, all federal food/housing programs should be terminated.

One of my Great Uncles was a County Commisioner in Indiana during the Depression.
One of the County Projects was a new High School. A three story, 4 dozen room School to provide Higher Education to a bunch of Farmers Kids. It was one of the many project that Roosevelt thought would pull us out of a Depression.
If you were a Farmer at the time, you didn’t need food, what you needed was a job that paid cash for shoes for your kids to wear to school, Cloth and needles and thread were at a premium also.
When he did get someone in who was not working in Agriculture and needed cash, he had a closet full of shovels, hoes and rakes.
So if you wanted a job and cash, you had to go get a Shovel and a Rake and go dig footings for the High School.
Now nobody got “Hired Per Se” you needed cash, you went to see my Uncle and he had you dug footings and basements with a shovel and a wheel barrow.

That school got built in a year and built under budget pretty much because my Uncle hated Roosevelt with a passion.
I think he would be called a Reagan Republican now.

I remember Chef Boy R De used to have a pizza mix you could but that would make a single cheese Pizza about 14"'s foir under a buck.
Actually was pretty good stuff, Mom made them alot.
