Well the international capitalist and international communist worlds came together to crush the nationalists.

Yeah, in hindsight we should have helped mustache man crush the Bolsheviks. The communists were always a bigger threat than anything the NSDAP could have mustered.

Imagine fighting and dying so that your grand children could be made a minority in their own land after it has been inundated with infinity third worlders. Watching your government protect the third worlders as they rape British girls by arresting native Brits for complaining about it while letting the rapists roam free.

If you look at History you’ll drive yourself crazy with “What If’s”.
At the end of WWII the imeadiate move in Britain was to kick Churchill to the curb and take a hard step left. I feel like that was a mistake.
But I also feel like both Churchill and Patton saw the future and wanted to be ready to kick some Russian Ass.
You know I had this discussion with my Dad one evening when I was seventeen. This is a totally different discussion when you talk to someone who lived through WWII. After Berlin Fell and we dropped a copuple of “A Bombs” that Generation was ready to go back to normal.
Very few people were predicting what a PITA the USSR would be.

I believe everything “Bad” that came to Western Civilization after WWII was because of Communism.

You see the same mindset in politics and culture today, “we elected new pols and I just wanna go back to normal.”

You also see people saying things like “that Patriot Act shit is a bad idea” and immediately getting called a loon by GOP/Bush supporters.

The GOP/Bush supporters doubled down on the loon claim when the similarities between the Clinton Operation Carnivore mass surveillance program(which the GOP/Bush supporters claimed to oppose) and the Patriot Act were pointed out also.

Grew up in the 80’s to the tune that the IRA was bad because they were a bunch of commies, but eventually I finally saw info that Britain was a bunch of commies also which means both sides were bad.

We can’t seem to get an foreign and domestic intelligence service that runs on a consistant level, it wildly ebbs and flows depending on international politics and our current war footing.
When funded with a Blank Check they go all rogue on POW’s and the next thing you know we have to start building Prisons overseas and the UN is pissed about torture.
Why can’t we find a steady unsullied hand to run the FBI and CIA?
Because I don’t believe we’ve had one, ever.

So I see the massive corruption and know in my heart that those who are collecting on the corruption wouldn’t do squat to serve this Country, so yeah, it might not always look like it was the right solution.

Oh, how well I remember THAT “Solution Looking For Its Problem”… I was one of those voices advocating caution and skepticism. It was funny seeing DEMOCRATS on my college campus trying to defend “Worse Than Hitler” of the day Shrub against me…

I dunno, I’m not the 18 year old I was when I joined the Army. I think when you’re that age there are a lot of things that you don’t even consider.
“What am I looking at in the future?” wasn’t even on my agenda until I was 30.

I think as a 60 year Old Man I can see the wasted lives and wonder"Why?"
But I have to be honest with you, the deaths in combat don’t effect me half as much as the guys who died in “Accidents.”
I could build a heck of a Tank Platoon out of Guys I know who died or crippled in vehicle accidents.

I think if you look for purpose in what you were asked to do, your never going to find all the answers your looking for. You will be disappointed, you dont need the guilt that will go along with the disapointment if you were a leader.

Looking back never works out well, if you want to ask yourself a question ask “Did I do as well as I could with what I had at the time?”

‘I wish it need not have happened in my time,’ said Frodo.

‘So do I,’ said Gandalf, ‘and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.’

Another example.

pissing their pants over a 7.92 Mauser cartridge now.

As someone who was a part of rebuilding a couple hundred Abrams Tanks, you just never know.

A freind of mine was testing a Tanks Fire Control and it wouldn’t pass for a Wind Sensor Error he found by pinning it out.

He takes the wind sensor off and a Makarov falls out of the cover.

Hmmmmm
