    M4 Dinging My Brass

Hello. I am new to the forums and have a quick question for the experts.

I have a Bushmaster M4 ORC. I've had the gun for close to a year now and it is amazing. The only issue I am having is that the gun is dinging (not dented) brass. I've found that some brass is worse than others, but, the issue is that it's happening in the first place. Is this an issue that can be repaired by a gunsmith (I.e. spring tension, timing, and ejection rates)? I know that this is a preference thing but I am starting to reload and would like the brass to be in better shape.

I have attached a few pics for you to look at. I appreciate any feedback you may have.

Normal, and not something I would be concerned about for reloading either.

I am having a real hard time resisting the urge to say it's due to over-gassing. A really really hard time

Normal. I have never had a gun that didn't do that. My BCM M4 upper does it.

Thanks everyone. I also forgot to mention that LC brass dings a lot worse than PSD brass. Any thoughts? I weighed the PSD (PMC) brass and it is a little heavier and denser than the LC brass. So far, PSD is my new favorite. Have any of you used PSD? If so, do you like it more than LC?

Thanks again for the suggestions everyone.

Mine does the same out of my KAC SR15 but it is closer to the shoulder. This is with shooting M855 green tip, Lake city and XM193 Lake City. Both dinged in the same place. Just wondering if this mean over or under or neither gassed....

The the gun works , right? Who cares what the brass looks like when it gets kicked out?
Even heavily dinged brass can be reloaded .
There is no problem to fix

Whih PMC is it? All of their ammo is pretty weak, the exception is their X-TAC line is good to go though.

That's nothing. You ought to see what an M1 or an M1A does.

    +1 What they all said...

It could be that the PSD/PMC ammo is simply ejecting differently, and that's why the LC brass is being dented more.

+1 My M14-type sometimes dents the necks so badly that they're visibly out of round...
